Personal Counseling

Mondays and Thursdays from 11:00 to 20:00 / Tuesdays from 09:00 to 13:00

Personal counseling gives you the opportunity to speak face-to-face with a counselor.

The counseling session is free of charge. You can make an appointment with us by phone or email.

In personal counseling, you can ask all your questions about HIV/AIDS, other sexually transmitted infections as well as questions about sexuality.

If you are HIV-positive, we are happy to advise you on everyday life issues, your social environment, and experiences of discrimination. We can also help you find additional counseling and support services for various life situations.

If you have questions about gender diversity, whether for yourself, relatives, or simply out of interest, we are happy to support you. If needed, we can refer you to specialized services.

Possible topics in our counseling sessions include:

• Fear of a possible infection with HIV
• Difficulties dealing with HIV, for example within the family or at the workplace
• Financial difficulties and options for social security
• Infection risks with a sexually transmitted infection
• Questions about sexual orientation and gender identity
• Sexuality and its troublemakers
• The body and its functions
• Contraception for parenthood
• Pain during sex
• Questions about transition options
• Early or delayed ejaculation
• Questions about sexual preferences
• Questions about discrimination due to sexuality, gender, or chronic illness
• Sexuality with physical impairments
• Other questions about sexuality and gender

Our counselors can also provide you with contact information for other services in your area, such as self-help groups.

Telephone Counseling

Mondays and Thursdays from 11:00 to 20:00 / Tuesdays from 09:00 to 13:00

Our counselors are experienced staff members. They are highly trained and always up to date. You can reach us during our counseling hours at +49 (0) 391 535769-69.

They are available for all your questions about HIV/AIDS, other sexually transmitted infections as well as questions about sexuality.

In addition, we are happy to provide information about:

• The possibility of personal on-site counseling
• Options for getting tested for HIV and other STIs here
• Sexuality and its troublemakers
• Emergency measures after an HIV exposure risk (see also Safer Sex Accident / PEP)
• Self-help groups, HIV specialist doctors, and other services in Magdeburg and the region.
• Questions about sexual orientation and gender identity
• Other questions about sexuality and gender

If you cannot reach us, you can also use the nationwide telephone counseling service of the Aidshilfen. You can reach it at +49 (0) 180 33 19411 (9 cents per minute from all German networks). The nationwide service is available Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 21:00 and Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 to 14:00.

You can take your time to ask your questions. You may remain completely anonymous. We will answer your questions as quickly as possible, often within minutes. (Always Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 19:00)
